LOCKTON AUSTRALIA PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR LIFE SAVING RESEARCH AT THE HARRY PERKINS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL RESEARCH
Lockton Australia, is delighted to announce that we will be supporting the 2018 MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer – an event which has raised $27 million for cancer research since 2012 and WA’s largest cycling fundraising event.
Lockton Australia are privileged to sponsor the MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer and show their support for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research who are committed to improving the health and wellness of all Australians.
Paul Marsden, Chief Executive Officer of Lockton Australia stated “Giving back to our communities is a big part of our culture. Here in Australia we want our fundraising efforts to make a meaningful impact in the community year after year. An estimated 115,000 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Australia in 2018 with more than 43,000 Australians expected to die from cancer in 2018.”
Andrew Wait, Chief Operating Offer for Lockton Australia is taking part in the 200km ride for the first time along with Gerry Favory, National Manager, Mining who will be riding for the third time.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Harry Perkins and sponsoring The MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer, we have already kicked things off with a special dollar match day, in which Lockton matched funds donated up to a value of $20,000. This was an astounding success and we are delighted to have had a hand in raising $53,450 in the first four minutes of the event! We are looking forward to more fund-raising in the lead up to The Ride and will also be sponsoring various initiatives that will benefit riders on the day.”

Lockton, named amongst ‘Best Places to Work in Insurance’ for the ninth consecutive year, is dedicated not only to supporting our clients but also our communities. To commemorate Lockton’s 50 year anniversary, Associates across the globe volunteered for charities supporting families and children. This global initiative challenged Associates to volunteer 50,000 but in true Lockton fashion they went above and beyond. Together we volunteered 70,540 hours for our communities around the world.
Cancer is the second leading cause of Australian deaths and affects almost 20% of the population and in fact cancer costs Australia $3.8 billion a year in direct health system costs. “We believe our greatest asset is our people and this cause is close to not only our hearts but the hearts of our clients and communities. We intend for this to be the first of many community initiatives that I hope will make a difference and encourage our clients and partners to support the Ride to Conquer Cancer and the wonderful work that the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research do.” says Paul Marsden, CEO.
