The Australian Government has invited final public comment on amendments to the Privacy Act 1988, an amendment that would require businesses subject to the Privacy Act to notify the national privacy regulator and affected individuals following a serious data breach.
Cyber and privacy related risks to Australian entities continue to grow. Targeted hacking attacks, accidental access to malicious email links, loss of documents both digital and physical, coupled with the increased use of mobile phones, tablets and laptops for both professional and personal use have led to the necessity of businesses needing to better understand their cyber and privacy exposure.
